Worcester City Council provides efficient essential services for over 95,000 residents and, working with the local community, it aims to create a prosperous, safe city and to improve the quality of life for residents, students and visitors.
Worcester City Council was seeking to update its aging analog system, which was a mix of old technologies installed over a period of time. As part of their update, the Integrator, Tellemachus, transitioned them to digital Avigilon H4 IR PTZ cameras at IP-enabled locations and installed a new digital Network Video Recorder and associated IP network. They also needed to update their fiber optic transmission network as well their video recording system.
With a full suite of new cameras, network recorders, video management software and advanced analytics, the city was fully equipped.
A range of Avigilon PTZ cameras were installed in strategic locations, featuring infrared technology to monitor in any lighting condition.
Images from the cameras are fed back to a secure, 24/7 control room with Avigilon Unity Video software, which can be used for monitoring multiple systems.
The use of Avigilon analytics enables quick, intelligent searches for speedy incident resolution and reduction in man-hours and resources.
The Avigilon security system has led to an increase in safety for residents, students and visitors to Worcesters’s city centre; as well as a deterrent, the Avigilon solution has already provided evidence in over 2,000 incidents. It also provides possibility for easy system expansion and future integration with the systems of the University of Worcester, the council’s car park system and West Mercia Police, as well as the potential to incorporate further Motorola Solutions technology.
