Since its launch in early 2015, the 7K (30 MP) HD Pro camera has impressed the industry with its high resolution and ability to cover wide areas and zoom in for evidentiary detail. In August, Benchmark Magazine named the Avigilon HD Pro series — which includes the 7K HD Pro — as the winner of the Benchmark Innovation Award 2015 in the Video Surveillance (Hardware) category. In December, the 7K HD Pro won a GOOD Design award, which is a prestigious international design honor for the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product and graphic designs.

Inspired by these capabilities, renowned time-  lapse photographer Ryan Emond took on the task  of shooting from the rooftops of six iconic North  American cities: Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New  York City, Toronto and Vancouver. Check out the  time-lapse video here.

The results are extraordinary. From dawn to dusk, the 7K HD Pro camera captured fog and thick clouds over Toronto, the sun shining on Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas, its light simultaneously reflecting off New York City’s skyscrapers. Our camera filmed boats sailing down the Chicago River and took impressive images of Vancouver’s Coal Harbour at sunset. The brilliance of the world around us was brought to life in 7K.

“I was super excited about this project, because I’d never worked with a 7K camera before,” said Ryan. “The crazy thing is, it’s a security camera. Working with a security camera to make something beautiful is [what] I got excited about. I found it really amazing how I could do so much with such a small camera.”

“Nice work Ryan and Avigilon. I always enjoyed the idea of using this cam for time lapse work.” – Sourced Security Solutions

Special thanks to Notch Video and Ryan Emond for bringing this project to fruition.

Ryan also appears in a beautiful behind-the-scenes video.
