Hardware Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Description

As our Hardware Quality Assurance Specialist,  you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for the design and implementation of the next generation of Avigilon’s market-leading high-definition surveillance system. You will be responsible for ensuring that Avigilon's reputation for excellence is maintained in all products that it releases. This position requires a high level of technical skill and ingenuity; your ability to solve problems, get things working, and clearly communicate when they don't work is critical.

In this position, you will:

  • Ensure that Avigilon products consistently adhere to our high standards of quality, performance, and usability
  • Perform testing of new products to ensure compliance with product specifications, involving:
    • The use of electronics lab test equipment to assess electrical performance
    • The use of tools, fixtures and equipment to assess the durability, usability and adherence to mechanical specifications
    • The use of optical test equipment to evaluate the imaging performance of cameras
    • The installation and use of new products in real-world environments
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases
    • Create detailed test reports and document any issues found
    • Develop or procure any test fixtures required to effectively test products
    • Create scripts to automate testing

Required Qualifications

  • 2 or more years experience in a quality assurance, testing, or technologist role
  • Experience with electronics lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies
  • Natural ability to work with PC computer technology, including setup of network devices, ability to diagnose and solve problems, etc.
  • Hands-on ability to use workshop tools to create simple fixtures as needed for the task at hand
  • Experience writing test cases and documenting test results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of digital imaging, photography or video
  • Experience with issue tracking systems such as Bugzilla or Redmine
  • Experience with Python, VBScript, or other scripting language
  • Degree or diploma in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Ability to read and understand electronics schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance testing for safety and EMC
